Ok so I guess I’ll finally tell you a bit about myself.
So as I mentioned before, my name is Robby. During my World Race trip, I gained the nickname Rubes. When we were in Moldova, our pastor kept Ruby instead of Robby, and then eventually, a teammate shortened that to Rubes. And it stuck. It was actually the first time I’d really had a nickname so I definitely embraced it. I feel like really cool people have nicknames, and I’d always wanted to be really cool. Speaking of nicknames, I’m thinking everyone’s gonna have a new nickname for the trip, probably before the end of training camp. Just sayin.
So anyways, I grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia. And it’s also where I’m currently living. With my parents. Eating their food. Sitting on their couch. Good life. If you’ve heard of Peachtree City, one thing you’ve probably heard about it is our use of golf carts. Golf carts are a main mode of transportation here. Like seriously. You can get from anywhere to anywhere in this city on a golf cart. There’s like 80 miles of paved cart paths throughout the city. Every one owns a golf cart. I drove a golf cart to high school before I had a car. It’s crazy. It’s weird. But it’s awesome.
Back in May 2010, I graduated from the University of Georgia up in Athens, Georgia. (Go Dawgs!) with a degree in Child and Family Development. So yes, I definitely love working with kids. My senior year of college, I worked at an after school program at a local elementary school, and I still enjoy going back to visit and see those kids. They’re awesome. I also have a passion for working with teens. I spent a lot of time during my college years discipling teens, leading retreats, etc.
So after graduating college, I left to go on the World Race in July 2010 (P Squad!) and just got back from that this past May. You should definitely check out my blog. To sum up the trip, it was awesome. To expand a little more on that, I went to the following countries: Haiti, Dominican Republic, Ireland, Moldova, Malawi, Swaziland, South Africa, Philippines, China, Thailand, Malaysia. My two favorite countries were the Philippines and the DR. I actually plan on going back to the Philippines at some point. It would take way too long to explain in this blog post what I wanna do there but to sum up, I wanna love on some orphans. And I wanna disciple some local missionary kids and open their eyes to the serving opportunities that are there and how God can use them in the Philippines. But seriously, ask me about it in person, and I would love to share my heart for it with you.
Towards the end of the trip, I felt God calling me to lead a Real Life trip (which explains why I’m here. On this blog. Telling you about myself.). And I am so pumped about it. I’m so pumped to get to know y’all more. I’m excited to share with you everything that God taught me on the World Race and beyond. I’m excited to watch God rock your worlds on this trip. I’m excited to be used by God to lead y’all. I’m excited. For real. It’s going to be awesome.
So I’ll leave you with a few random facts about myself.

- I love watching sports. I’m a big fan of the Atlanta braves, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Georgia Bulldogs.
- I love to laugh, and I love to make other people laugh. For real. I’m constantly joking around. If you laugh at my jokes, you’re instantly one of my favorite people.

- I’m not picky at all with music. Except I don’t really listen to country. I love Christian rap (Lecrae, Tedashii, Flame, etc.). I also love David Crowder and stuff like that.
- I like to pretend that I can dance. I can’t. But I like to pretend, and I’d appreciate it if you didn’t crush my dreams.
- I love karaoke. I like to pretend that I can sing. I can’t. But I like to pretend, and I’d appreciate it if you didn’t crush my dreams.
- I know way too many of the words to “Friday” by Rebecca Black.
- Jack Bauer is one of my heroes.
